Costume

Fraser - lead male: Black trousers and shoes present a dangerous mystic about the character. Fraser's t-shirt has the words 'search and destroy' printed on the front. The words are very hidden and if the audience where to see them, a sense of mystery and curiousity would develop as to why he is wearing a t-shirt with those words printed on the front. A tattoo can also be seen on Fraser's arm of a dragon. Large tattoos are often associated with masculinity and power as they often hide a lot of meaning behind them. We hope that this association is made with Fraser's character. A dragon is also a symbol of make believe, adding to the fanstasy theme of the video. It makes the audience rethink if Dalia is the only one involved in a make believe fantasy land.

Dalia - lead female:  Domestic violence scenes: Dalia wears basic clothing to show that she does not have or recieve any luxury items. The dark colouring of her clothing shows a sense of depression about her personality. Due to the insecurity that Dalia holds, she does not want to be recognised or taken notice of so she hides behind her clothing.
Fantasy land scenes: Dalia wears two different costumes for the two different locations in which the fantasy land scenes are shot. Within the sunny shots, filmed at Earlham park in the summer, Dalia wears a pink dress with purple tights and shoes. The reason behind this being that we wanted to bring a sense of fun and outrage to her costume, something that will connote Dalia's freedom that she experiences in her fantasy land. We also felt that Dalia's girly side needed to be shown in these scenes as in the domestic violence scenes she dresses in very plain and unfeminine like clothing. Pink and purple did this very well. Within the other fantasy land shots that were filmed in the snow, Dalia wears a black dress with a white collar, the dress features small love hearts printed over it. We felt this would be a good dress to wear for these scenes because the black and white contrast well with the white snow. The dress also has an 'Alice in Wonderland' style to it. With the shape and the love hearts connoting the dress and props used in the novel. The white of the collar also symbolising purity.

  1. Good notes which back up effective contrasts in the final product
