Initial Album Cover Idea 1

This is the front image of my idea. It's a very basic image close up image of Dalia. She holds a very still and natural facial expression, slightly smiling to show calm and collectiveness whilst looking straight into the camera to show power, independence and significance. In this image, Dalia wears very little makeup accept a bit of mascara and a slight tint of pink to the lips to add to the natural theme of the photography. I decided Dalia would wear her hair down on this image to show that she is free from what she has been suffering from. Around Dalia's neck sits the words "Auction For The Promise Club", the name of both the band and the album title. This would be written onto Dalia's skin using either a black pen or black eyeliner. I believe this is a very unique way of showing the album title and adds quirkiness to the album cover. The font used will be much like what is shown in the drawing, elegant with a curl element to it. This not only shows femininity but also has a child-like element to it, as this image shows Dalia free from her domestic household, the happy side to Dalia may be taking her back to her childhood.

This is the back cover of my idea. It presents a very natural picture of Dalia posing with her head to the side. This image shows a more vulnerable side to Dalia, the one seen in the music video as she is victimised by her abusive boyfriend. The position in which Dalia holds herself, with her head to the side and her eyes closed shows that she is weak and controlled. It connotes and denotes that she can't face what is happening in her life. Dalia's hair is tied back, suggesting that she is captured and held back by her boyfriend. Again, no clothing can be mm./;seen to add to the natural theme of the cover. Like the front, little make-up will be worn by Dalia to again add to the theme.  The song titles are listed at the top left and the bottom right, the font used there will much like the one used on the front but written using capitals. I believe capitals are easier to read and it will add a sense of bitterness to the back image.

This is the side panel to my idea. It features the band name with a small flower at the end. The font used will be italic with a slight curl to the letters to create femininity and elegance, the flower also adds to this as well as the theme of naturalism.

This initial idea consists of very basic photography of main character Dalia, conducted against a basic white wall. The reason for this being that i want the album cover to hold a strong femininity aspect, i believe that with Dalia's striking appearance and the white background produce this, i also believe these contrast well together and make the album cover incredibly eye-catching. I wanted a positive femininity message to come across with my album cover to support the story line of myself and Laura's "Under China" music video, the background and plain theme that it holds does this well as it creates a pure and heaven like atmosphere. I think if close up photography is too be used, like this initial idea, the background has to be kept to a minimal so that the eye focuses on the main subject correctly and the image doesn't look cluttered or blurred. No clothing will be shown in the image, again to show purity and naturalness as well has drawing attention to other features of the image such as Dalia's eyes and expression. Helping to show emotion and feeling. This CD cover will produced as a basic jewel CD case, with an inside booklet containing images of objects used in the video for "Under China" for e.g. Dalia's shoes and Fraser's cigar. The reason behind this being that i wanted people to associate the cover with the music video and to recognise the significant meaning behind the objects.
