For this initial idea i decided to involve an instrument that is mainly associated with the indie/rock genre - a guitar. The use of the guitar on this album cover will immediately attract fans of the indie/rock genre because of the main association it has with this instrument. People will immediately know what genre this album holds.
My main influence behind this idea was Alicia Key's' album cover for "The Diary of Alicia Keys".
The image shows Alicia half stood behind a piano, an instrument she is knows to play within her music, something that is also represented in her stage name. It shows the instrument is half of who she is, her music would not be the same without it. The instrument is very significant to this artist and i wanted this to come across within mine.
The back of my initial idea shows a black guitar (the same as pictured on front) against a white canvas. The white canvas makes the guitar stand out yet it gives some importance to the song list which is also featured on the back.
The woman represented in my drawing is Dalia. Like Alicia Keys, she would wear little make up and her hair would be calmly positioned.
